Our first destination will be the Dades Gorge, driving through the Tizi n Tichka Pass (2260m altitude) in the High Atlas Mountains, where you will see breath-taking landscapes and traditional High Atlas Berber villages. Then we will continue on the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou – a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. (This recently has been used as one of the locations for filming parts of ‘Game of Thrones’. After having lunch here, we will be heading to Ouarzazate or as we call it, the ‘Moroccan Hollywood’ or the ‘City Without Noise’. Then we will drive through the valley of one thousand Kasbahs, through Kalaat Maggona or the Valley of the Roses and Skoura to reach our destination in the Dades Gorge where you will be treated to a traditional Moroccan dinner and a night in a hotel.
After an early breakfast in the hotel, we will leave the Dades Gorge and head for the Merzouga Sahara Desert where we will spend the night. However, before we arrive there we will visit the city of Tinghir and the Todgha Gorge to explore the fascinating views of the palm grove of the Todgha Valley and the Jewish quarter there. We will continue to the highest point of the gorge for a coffee break and a short walk.
You will receive an early-morning wake-up call so that you can enjoy sunrise in the Sahara Desert – possibly one of the most amazing moments of the trip! After an authentic breakfast in the camp, you will ride your camel back to meet your driver for the return journey to Fes. This will bring you through the beautiful valley of Ziz, Errachida and Midelt. We will stop for lunch on the way and a short break to watch the monkeys in the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas close to Azrou city at Gourrou Forest. We will continue finally to Fes, where you will be brought to your accommodation.
